Volunteering to text for the purpose of getting out the vote can be interesting, but I understand why people might get burned out. After awhile, it seems like I mostly get wrong numbers, people who tell me to leave them alone, or trumpers who call me names. Those who are voting democrat seem to already have their ducks in a row, and have already decided whether or not to vote by mail. We're supposed to encourage people to be safe and vote by mail, but we're not changing anyone's minds. The very few who are undecided about the candidates don't reallly want to engage with us, either. I just hope we've reminded them to think about it!

I've written forty (40) letters to people in Florida, too., to be mailed out next month. I have no idea what any of this is doing, but since I can't keep my mind off the election, I might as well be doing something. The recent news that some republicans in this state are scheming to appoint electors who will disregard the popular vote has made me rather despondent. If we ever get rid of these horrible people, there must be a constitutional amendment ending the electoral college. it's killing us. A number of things must change.

We all wish all the hatred would go away. I've learned that there's a faction of the democratic party who hate BLM and also seem to agree with republicans about democrats getting too radical. And that there's a pernicious Qanon conspiracy rumor that Joe Biden is a pedophile. Perhaps they think that worked with Hillary. There are ugly things being said about Kamala Harris, too, of course. Meanwhile, I've gotten some media responses, memes people think are funny--"I'd vote for trump if he were caught snorting cocaine in a hotel room with a midgett and a pirate." I suppose it's no fun to just say, take me off your list, must also insult little people and pretend that trump is not a pirate, himself.

In other news, our bookgroup campfire group has been postponed because one of the hosts came in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID, so they both have to quantine, and are awaiting test results. (This person was asymptomatic.) There are so few gatherings that this really was a blow. And then I read how Florida is lifting all restaurant restrictions. Those dingbats, we'll be fighting this forever.

Okay, I'll stop with the gloom and doom. I have so much for which to be thankful, and hope that soon, others do, too.
